Sonography Centre in Himatnagar
Sonography (ultrasound) uses sound waves – not radiation – to see organs inside the body. It is quick, painless and safe, including in pregnancy. At Pluto Hospital, Himatnagar, sonography is available on site for the abdomen, kidneys, gallbladder, liver, pelvis, thyroid and pregnancy, with reports shared with your doctor.
Understanding the Condition
What Sonography Checks
A gel is applied and a probe moved over the skin to create live images. It is often the first test for abdominal pain, stones, fatty liver, fibroids, thyroid lumps and pregnancy. Some scans need a full bladder or fasting for clearer images.
Common Sonography Scans
- Abdomen – liver, gallbladder, kidneys
- Pelvis – uterus and ovaries, bladder, prostate

- Thyroid and neck

Common Questions
Sonography FAQs
Is sonography safe in pregnancy?
Yes. Sonography uses sound waves, not radiation.
Why do I need a full bladder?
A full bladder pushes the bowel aside and gives clearer images of the pelvis.
Do I need to fast for abdomen sonography?
Usually 6 hours, so the gallbladder is clearly seen. Water is allowed.
Will the scan reveal the baby’s sex?
No. Sex determination is illegal under the PCPNDT Act and is not done or disclosed.
Is sonography better than CT?
Each has its use. Sonography is ideal for many organs and pregnancy; CT gives more detail in some conditions.
