Common Questions
Blood in the urine can be due to infection or stones, but it can also be the first sign of bladder or kidney cancer. Even a single episode, especially without pain, should be checked by a urologist.
PSA is a simple blood test that checks a protein made by the prostate. A raised PSA can be due to an enlarged prostate, infection or prostate cancer, so further tests may be needed. Men over 50 should discuss PSA testing with their doctor.
Kidney cancer found early, while it is still within the kidney, can often be cured with surgery. Treatment depends on the size of the tumour and whether it has spread.
Early bladder tumours are usually removed with an endoscopic procedure through the urine passage, without any cut on the body. Some patients need further treatment depending on the biopsy report.
A painless lump, swelling or heaviness in the testis is the most common sign. It is most common in younger men and is highly treatable when found early.
Not always. Many early urologic cancers are treated with surgery alone. If further treatment is needed, your doctor will explain the options and coordinate with a cancer centre.
